The Dutchtown Neighborhood
"Deutschtown" was home to many Germans who settled in this part of the city beginning in the 1840s. These residents were mostly working-class, employed largely in the city's milling industries. Today, Dutchtown offers affordability, easy access to downtown as well as the expressway that connects to the larger region, and a friendly group of neighbors, many of whom have lived in Dutchtown their entire lives. One of these "lifers" is James Muscatella, head of the People of Dutchtown association.
